Position Summary and Requirements:
The Communications Coordinator executes Midtown Association’s communications campaigns under the direction of the Senior Manager of Communications. In support of approximately 30 integrated campaigns annually, core responsibilities include producing social media content, contributing to email marketing, updating website content, coordinating earned media outreach, and supporting events. The Coordinator maintains brand and messaging consistency across all channels and audiences, and collaborates with the Placemaking, Clean and Safe, and Events teams to ensure cohesive storytelling throughout Midtown Association’s programs.
What is a Midtown Association Coordinator?
Qualified Coordinators have the ability to participate with consultants and staff to reach predetermined outcomes within budget on specific projects. They excel at task completion and communicating information between stakeholders, staff, consultants, and other team members to keep the group “on the same page.” They have a special knack for the area of the organization in which they serve and are a great source for expert “on the ground” information on their projects. Coordinators maintain communication with key partners in the community to ensure the success of the organization. Coordinators should have an associate’s degree in a relevant area of study; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Basic Employment Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or related field
- Associate degree in communications, marketing, or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
- Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
- Ability to shoot and edit short-form video content
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, and Canva
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and pass background, driving, and drug screenings (cannabis permissible)
Ideal candidates will also possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public affairs, or related field
- Experience with WordPress, SEO tools, and Google Analytics
- Familiarity with Monday.com or other project management software
- Experience with paid social or Google Ads trafficking
- Basic Adobe Creative Cloud knowledge
- Curiosity and comfort exploring emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools to enhance workflow and content development
- Ability to manage multiple projects with speed and precision
Work Environment/Hours: This is a full-time position at no less than 40 hours per week. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, professional hours, with variations for meetings and special events such as Midtown Second Saturday and Midtown Farmers Market. The work environment consists primarily of office-based and remote communications work using digital tools, with periodic outdoor event support. Must be able to work around varying degrees of noise and interruptions and operate effectively under dynamic conditions during events. Must be self-motivated, flexible, patient, and able to complete assignments with limited direct supervision while contributing collaboratively to a fast-paced team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Communications, support implementation of about 30 ongoing communications campaigns with the intent to increase visitors and investment in Midtown. Campaigns range from increasing attendance at specific events and supporting public safety/harm reduction efforts for nighttime visitors to increasing the leasing of area apartments and telling the story of art in the district.[EB2] Implementation is as follows:
- Campaign Implementation and Project Support: Support implementation of approximately 30 annual communications campaigns. Assist in maintaining project timelines within Monday.com or other workflow systems, draft project task lists and assist in coordinating internal deadlines, capture live content at events or activities in the district, manage social media coverage during activations, assist with vendor or influencer communications when necessary, and support campaign recap reporting, including gathering analytics and preparing summary materials.
- Content Development and Digital Execution: Draft and schedule segmented social media content across platforms and draft content for newsletters, blogs, website pages, and stakeholder communications. Assist with email marketing campaigns via Mailchimp. Update website content through WordPress, supporting SEO implementation and basic digital optimization techniques. Capture and edit photography and short-form video content at events and activations and maintain organized digital asset libraries.
- Social Media and Audience Engagement: Manage daily social media publishing schedule, monitor comments, messages, and engagement across platforms, and provide monthly analytics summaries and engagement reports. Coordinate influencer collaborations and content collection as directed.
- Brand Standards and Creative Coordination: Ensure adherence to Explore Midtown, Midtown Love, Midtown Parks, Midtown Farmers Market, and other sub-brand standards. Assist in updating templates and ensuring consistency across materials and develop simple Canva-based graphics when appropriate.
- Public Relations and Stakeholder Support: Assist in coordinating media requests and compiling press materials and preparing for any on-site press request needs. Support preparation of stakeholder presentations and meeting materials, attend select stakeholder meetings or community activations as needed, and support advocacy messaging implementation as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
